Career Guidance

Internships

As part of their programmes, most students are required to participate in internships offered by production companies. These internship programmes expose students to the realities of the industry and allow them to experience and contribute to professional ad film, television, animation and feature film productions. Students may be required to sign contracts with production companies if selected for an internship.

By providing an entry point into the sometimes-insulated fraternity of filmmaking, the internship programmes allow students to forge relationships and build their network of contacts before stepping into the working world. In the December 2006 and June 2007 holidays, over half the student body elected to spend their vacation working in film, television or animation production.

Selected students may be engaged for Green Light Projects with participating production companies. Terms of such engagement will be made available to students well in advance and may require them to make commitments for agreed periods to the funding company.

Placement

The two years of training culminate with Whistling Woods International assisting our students in launching their careers. Our career facilitators are perpetually available to advise on job opportunities and interview and audition techniques and to assist in securing that all-important first job, assignment or opportunity. The institute will host student film festivals to showcase works to the industry, submit select works to international student film festivals and publish an online directory of students and their accomplishments.

Leading students from all specialisations will be recommended to the significant body of producers and directors who actively support our vision, including Mukta Arts. We are already receiving placement opportunities from leading Indian film, television and media companies.
