On December 13, 2011, at the inaugural ceremony of the GEMS American Academy in Dubai in which Bill Clinton, the 42nd president of The United States of America was the chief guest, Mr Subhash Ghai was a special invitee, as one of the key educationists in the world today, invited by GEMS Education and the Sunny Varkey Foundation Dubai.
Mr Clinton's address at the event, to several students, parents and educationists, stressed upon the importance of all round school education being the key to keeping the world out of the political and financial turmoil it is facing today. "We can only better our tomorrow by educating our children better." he said.
In a brief personal meeting, Bill Clinton congratulated Subhash Ghai for setting up the world class Media & Entertainment institution, Whistling Woods International in India, and congratulated him for achieving the landmark of the institution being rated as one of the ten best film schools in the world. He was especially happy when he learnt that Whistling Woods has been working with the primary high school board in India.
In a major step in education in India, WWI was invited to partner with India's premier High School Board - the CBSE board by the Ministry of Human Resource Development - Government of India to design a Media Studies curriculum to enable the country's primary High School board (the CBSE board) to offer Media Studies as an academic elective to CBSE students in the 11th and 12th grade. The pilot program is currently underway and has proved highly successful. From the 2012 academic intake onwards, the same will be open to all the CBSE schools in the world. Mr Subhash Ghai is a special invitee for the annual CBSE meet in Chennai on December 27-29 in which he will address hundreds of CBSE school principals on the Media & Entertainment industry and the importance of education in the same.
