In the august presence of Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit or Norway, Whistling Woods International and The Norwegian Film Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Subhash Ghai, Founder & Chairman of Whistling Woods International and Jan Erik Holst, Director of The Norwegian Film Institute signed the agreement fostering and facilitating heightened interaction between the two institutes. Also present for the event were several leading producers from the Norwegian and Indian film industry including Ravi Chopra, Boney Kapoor, Vashu Bhagnani, Rahul Rawail and others.
Salient features of the MOU include student exchanges, faculty exchanges, sharing of library resources, curriculum affiliation and student film exchanges.
Speaking at the occasion, Mr Jan Erik Holst said that the NFI was eager to affiliate with Whistling Woods International, which is fast being recognized internationally as THE place for Film and Media Education in Asia.
Mr. Subhash Ghai quoted “Its a significant moment - not just for Whistling Woods International but for the Indian film industry. It is a true testament to the strength of Indian media that the Norwegian Film Institute tying up with Whistling Woods International in the presence of the crown princess HRH Mette-Marit of Norway. Such recognition and bilateral understanding will hopefully be lead to co-productions, exchange of training programmes & India having an even larger presence on the international entertainment world, both in production and academics. I’m extremely glad to sign this agreement with the Norwegian film institute on behalf of Whistling Woods International.”
A Norwegian delegation comprising heads of leading production houses of Norway, the Norwegian Film Commissioner and Jan Erik Holst, the Director of the Norwegian Film Institute will visit Whistling Woods International tomorrow for a follow-up discussion with the senior management of WWI.
