Said Bhawna Somaya - the author of 'Salaam Bollywood' and 'Cinema: images and issues' who is also the chief editor of the popular weekly Screen - “the new generation must reinvent themselves to be part of a very competitive future world of cinema” while sharing shared her 2-decades experience about the issues, problems and probable solutions of the entertainment industry with the students of Whistling Woods International at Filmcity, Mumbai last week.
She further added, “In the near-future, the entertainment industry is going to need triple the number of the present talent. And this entire new talent better have some serious educational background before they are handed over the responsibility to sit along-side a highly competitive peer group in the entertainment industry. And I am sure students from whistling woods will do justice to the competition”
Bhawna congratulated the students for having such a world class institute, never before seen or experienced by the Indian Film Industry - which also trains aspiring producers and production designers. “It's a wonder why nobody else has introduced this, given the fact that such careers solicit high-paying jobs and are a stepping-stone to being a film-entrepreneur”
Students also discussed the strengths and shortcomings of a over-bearing media presence and the skill to handle media in the right perspective and to their advantage.
