Whistling Woods International, Institute for Film TV Animation and Media Arts has tied up with the Pune International Film Festival to include a separate section of student-made short films as a competitive section in PIFF 2008. “The youth are the future. It is up to us, the established members of the Indian Media industry, to encourage and promote young talent. Only then will the next generation of filmmakers be competitive at a global level. You would be very surprised to learn that none of the major film festivals in India offer a competitive platform for student-made short films. Which is why, at PIFF 2007, I had announced a special section called the ‘Whistling Woods International Student Film Competition’ as part of the Pune International Film Festival 2008. The organisers of PIFF 2008, have been very encouraging to WWI in our endeavour to promote young media talent in India and I thank them for partnering with WWI and including this section in PIFF 2008.” said Subhash Ghai, Chairman, WWI. Further details about the competition are available on www.whistlingwoods.net or www.puneinternationalfilmfestival.com
