January 4 , 2008

December spells vacation time for the students of Whistling Woods International. Although the senior batch is busy attending a special workshop by Subhash Ghai, chairman and the founder of WWI. The two week long workshop was conducted for students from acting, direction, business of film and television and screenwriting specialization.

This workshop gave the students a opportunity to share the knowledge and industry know-how with the famous director, producer who is also a veteran in main stream writing.

The workshop commenced with one on one interactive session between Subhash Ghai and the students and was followed by Subhash Ghai guiding them on the various aspects of film making. Also included was a master class which covered topics like pitching yourself to the leading production houses and media companies and how to be audience friendly by maintaining your own style of work and skills. “Every technician has to be an artist first. This will help them to make their mark as a film maker internationally” said Subhash Ghai.

Subhash Ghai believes that to learn the real art and craft of cinema students have to unlearn a few things first. He also encouraged students to respect every kind of cinema and work done by others which will then help them to excel in their respective field.

The workshop incorporated practical exercises for the acting and direction students to self assess their strengths and weaknesses. The workshop then concluded with Subhash Ghai sharing his industry experiences of lessons learnt and mistakes converted into qualities.

“I can see many talented professionals coming out of Whistling Woods” said Subhash Ghai proudly. “Even I learn so much from them everyday”.
