Acting students of Whistling Woods International, Mumbai hailed Salman Khan, the Superstar when he conducted a special Master Class with them. He took them through his journey from being a Fresher in the film industry to becoming one of the biggest Superstars in Bollywood.
He charmed the students with his wit and shared secrets on being a Star Actor rather than being just a good Actor. Apart from focusing on the quality curriculum offered to Acting students at Whistling Woods, Salman advised students to focus on physical fitness, appearance, grooming style and thereby developing one’s own individual personality.
Adding to the above he went on to say “You must not imitate another Star, because you will always be No. 2. You will never become a Star but a Copy. You need to know the marked difference between a good Actor and a Star with lots of fans waiting to see him on the screen. A good Actor is remembered for a good role in a good film whereas a Star attracts audiences to watch the film, even if the film is mediocre.
He also shared his experience of working with various Directors from Sooraj Barjatya , Sanjay Leela Bhansali , David Dhawan to more recently Subhash Ghai . He explained that every Director has a different style of working and he adapts to each Director’s style. “To give his best, every actor has to know and understand the Director first before he starts working with him. That’s how he can do justice to the Director’s vision of the film. Never try to think opposite of the Director’s thinking. It would harm the film”
While speaking on grooming one’s personality, Salman said that “An Actor has to be a good human being first, not a pretentious good human being. He must be humble to people even as he exhibits the attitude of a Star. An actor must spend a lot of time to care for his body and face because this is the only instrument with which any actor can play a role and exhibit his talent of acting on big screen .
