Whistling Woods International (WWI) gets new TAAL

Mukta Arts promoted film, television and media arts institute hires London based Recording Architecture India Pvt. Ltd. as Acoustical Consultants for the Whistling Woods Educational Project

Mumbai, May 2005: Music is the mother of all arts - who knows this better than the creative mastermind behind Whistling Woods International Institute (WWI) for Film, Television and Media Arts, promoted by Mukta Arts. The upcoming institute is empowering itself with the creative pursuits of London-based Recording Architecture (RA) for designing and overseeing their entire acoustics. RA repertoire includes creating, designing sound and everything associated with professional sound like architectural, acoustic and interior design. RA also has the unique distinction of having worked with names like Lenny Kravitz of USA and Robert Miles of Italy, music studios like Abbey Road of UK and Terrarium of USA, American Intercontinental University of UK and Istanbul Technical Universty of Turkey. They have lent their unique touch to India in many ways - Amar Mohile’s private studio, a music studio called Spectral Harmony, film mix studio for Sound City, Empire’s Studio One etc. in Mumbai and even Bally Sagoo in UK.

Meghna Ghai Puri, Director (Business Development) of Mukta Arts is very excited about this new international engagement for the institute. “Without the correct acoustical space, no matter what equipment we have installed, or what faculty we have on board, it just doesn't matter as the projects will just not sound right. Hence after evaluating various options we finally decided on Recording Architecture as we felt that the kind of work and experience that they bring to the board would be highly beneficial for us and our students, who will now get a feel of how true world class studios sound like.”

RAI is equipping WWI with state-of-the-art acoustic facilities including a Music Recording & Mixing Studio, Film Mixing Studio with full Surround Sound functionality, MIDI Lab, 4 DAW Suites, 2 ADR and Foley Suites, TV studio, Lecture Halls, Classrooms and a multi-purpose auditorium and cinema. All of this is being introduced for the first time in India on such a grand scale and for educational purposes.

For Roger D’Arcy, Managing Director and Chief Designer, Recording Architecture, Whistling Woods International is an adventurous and inspiring project. “It offers a range of studio spaces unrivalled in our experience. Our whole design team (which includes CAD wizard, Paul Smith) is full of enthusiasm and a burning desire to make this a creative and technically excellent facility—it is a chance for RAI to make a serious contribution to the development of Indian expertise which at long last is gaining major recognition in the wider world.”

There is definitely another ‘Taal’ in the making—one with foreign expertise but Indian vibes on Indian land!
