Whistling Woods International signs Letter of Intent with
the Premier of Cape Town, South Africa
- November 8, 2006

Subhash Ghai, Founder & Chairman of Whistling Woods International and Ebrahim Rasool, the Premier of Cape Town signed a letter of intent whereby a collaborative strategy for the establishment of a film and media institute in Cape Town is identified and discovery and research for the same if facilitated.

Salient features of the LOI include members of senior management of Whistling Woods International visiting South Africa to undertake a feasibility study jointly with Wesgro (the Official investment and trade promotion agency of the Province of the Western Cape, mandated to develop trade related infrastructure and encourage investments in Cape Town) and the Cape Film Commission (mandated to develop and promote the film and multimedia sectors in the Province of the Western Cape).

Speaking at the occasion, Premier Ebrahim Rasool said that they are honoured to associate with Whistling Woods as they greatly respect the level of education being imparted here and would like to apply a similar model to augment the human creative capital of Cape Town so that it produces original film work and does not remain just a destination for the rest of the world to shoot their films in. He further elucidated that South Africa have thousands of stories to tell the world starting from India’s very own Mahatma Gandhi’s first satyagraha.

Mr. Subhash Ghai quoted “Via Whistling Woods, the Indian Media Industry is receiving the recognition it so richly deserves. For the first time - rather than looking to the west, we have a developed country looking at the east to assist them in the creation of human creative capital. Such recognition and bilateral endeavors will lead to co-productions, exchange of students, faculty, cultures, training methodologies and India increasing its presence and influence on the world media market. I’m pleased to sign this letter of intent with Cape Town on behalf of Whistling Woods International.”
