Rob Reece
Robert Reece, Head of the Acting Department at Whistling Woods International’s Actor’s Studio, has been acting,
directing, and teaching in Los Angeles and San Francisco over four decades. A lifetime member of The Actors Studio in Los Angeles and New York as well as the Screen Actors Guild, Rob has worked with Lee Strasberg,
Jonathan Demme, John Sturges, Michael Caine, Martin Landau, Mark Bydell and Clint Eastwood.
Rob is a leading proponent of Method Acting – derived from the teachings of Constantin Stanislavski,
advocated by Lee Strasberg, Sandy Meisner, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen, and contemporary coach and author of No Acting Please, Eric Morris.
Method Acting is the development of a technique/craft in order to access and guide the actor’s instrument to create unique, personal, and organic realities that fulfill and parallel
the character’s experience. The essential nature of Method Acting is creating realities as opposed to presentational (false) life and emotions. To make the part real for the actor and consequently the audience.
Rob’s unique approach to Method Acting encompasses in-depth process work and exposure to specific
craft tools that allow the open expression of the actor’s full range of emotions and behavior.
Rob’s perception and guidance have evolved from numerous theatrical, psychological, and spiritual approaches
– both ancient and modern. He utilizes these tools and insights in precise ways to create a paradigm shift that solves the individual problems of talented actors.
As Head of the Acting Department, Rob Reece has introduced Method Acting to WWI students in a custom
curriculum he has developed specifically for Whistling Woods International.
