Overview
Music Foundation Level One provides a student with the absolute fundamentals in music training, with practical approaches in Rhythm, Melody & Harmony, the vital building blocks of musical expression. The course begins with basic kinaesthetics that leads to a universal physical technique for all instruments. It draws from essential musical practices of different World music styles, such as Afro-cuban, Jazz, Blues & Folk, Western Classical, Indian Classical and popular music.
Students in this course will begin learning notation in Western and Indian systems, a strong focus on ear-training, practical approaches to improvisation & composition, basics of music theory as it pertains to practical music-making, and how to develop themselves as individually-voiced musical artists. Students will be exposed to a variety of music styles & how to work, groove and jam with other musicians in a musically structured & productive manner. Music programming software such as Logic Pro will also be used as a learning tool for students to begin their own journey with music production & arrangement. This course also provides an ideal foundation for anyone who wants to study music formally at university level.
