WWI has received a grant under the European Union’s Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module titled “Folk Dialogues – India-EU Cultural Connect,” fostering cross-cultural exploration of folk art between the EU and India. The module is designed and delivered by the Animation and Game Design Department as part of the B.Des Programme, integrating traditional folk narratives into contemporary digital storytelling.

The proposed module, “Folk Dialogues,” is driven by the imperative for a comprehensive comparative analysis of folk-art styles and narratives across the EU and India. At its core, the module seeks to trace the origins and evolution of communities that persist in diverse countries, shedding light on the unique and abstract manners in which these folk dialogues articulate and preserve local heritage. Delving into ritualistic practices encompassing art, embroidery, and narrative depictions, the module underscores the profound representative value embedded in these expressions, offering insights into the cultural essence and priorities of each community.
Comparative exploration transcends geographical and political boundaries, aiming to uncover unexpected similarities among communities that, on the surface, appear disconnected by territorial divisions and proximity. The revelation of shared values, art styles, techniques, embroidery traditions, and overarching cultural principles serves as a testament to the universal aspects of human expression and experience. By juxtaposing these folk traditions from people across countries and continents, the module endeavors to illuminate the underlying threads that unite seemingly disparate cultures.
In navigating this interdisciplinary journey, the module aspires to contribute to the vision of a culturally unified world. It recognizes the importance of celebrating the rich diversity of folk traditions while simultaneously acknowledging the shared cultural heritage that transcends borders. Through this lens, the module becomes a catalyst for fostering mutual understanding, breaking down preconceived notions, and building bridges that connect communities globally.
The “Folk Dialogues” module aims to conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis of folk-art styles and narratives across the EU and India, unveiling shared cultural threads, values, and techniques to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the interconnectedness of human experiences, contributing to the vision of a culturally unified world.
